Buuut the hair's uv is overlapping a lot, making it hard to do so.
Try split the meshes.

Aww how cute! You want to pretend to be a movie character!
Tydeus wrote: Fri May 17, 2019 1:06 amI get it, you feel backed into a corner
Again, you're confused "Dude", very confused! I don't feel backed into anything, least of all any corners, or your pathetic failed attempts to be offensive:
Tydeus wrote: Fri May 17, 2019 1:06 amyou where being a little bitch about it.
I was where?? (thanks for the laugh!) Such a brave little keyboard warrior aren't you? That took some courage for you to write that didn't it!
Tydeus wrote: Fri May 17, 2019 1:06 amYour "good intentions" turned into insults so I commented.
You're a sensitive little lamb aren't you? What exactly did I write that was offensive? Offensive to who? You or the person that I wrote it to? Is Maximmum incapable of writing himself if he feels that he has been offended? Anyway, as you're so certain that Maximmum felt as wounded as you do about my comment, then perhaps you'd like to clarify exactly what it was that I said that was insulting to him?

You could try UVW Unwrap modifier in 3DS Max. Open UV Editor, select all polygons and select Mapping > Flatten Mapping... There are other options in the UV Editor which might help you separate the UV's into islands and group them.

Anyway, f'k all of this negativity, I only really intended to thank RandomTBush for all of his hard work and dedication to helping others out. I've been struggling to extract the models from BTTF for a while and RTB solved it within a few hours of me asking questions! Exceptionally cool!

Thanks again!

You don't hype up somebody about the game you make and then says you won't release it :D
Perhaps if you're so willing to irresponsibly offer your "professional legal advice", you could explain your professional background or how you are so certain that a game developer could use intellectually protected, copyrighted material from another game studio?!! Please enlighten us to these "lots of examples" that you mention where a game studio or developer has used copyrighted assets from another studio, without permission, legally??? I am sorry, but I suspect that you don't know what you are talking about, at all. I also suspect that you're probably some irresponsible teenager/kid who is more "hyped" about playing an unreleased game than you are about the developer putting themselves at legal risk by releasing a game that uses copyrighted material!

I can't wait to hear of these examples of games that have been legally released, that use other copyrighted assets from other games, without permission!
At this point I don't really know to believe who and to say who is right or wrong, but thanks guys for your advices, really. No need to get mad over it or anything, I don't want this to go from a question that I asked to a problem between you guys.

Anyway, have a good day :)
I'm gonna tell you this, just don't worry about this legal bullshit, only some particular devs care when you make a free game with their content, CAPCOM is a great example, but i would anyway love to see and play the game you are doing since it includes Clem =)

I'm glad someone likes the idea of it :). You can join the discord server of the game, only if you want to, there you will know when it releases and you can suggest more ideas if you have, just anything you have on your mind, we can discuss there :D

Has anybody gotten any luck with the walker textures? I'm able to import the models fine, but after using the QuickBMS script on the textures, the Diffuse materials just seem Deep Fried and unusable.

Thanks!

It's like they all have a really intense red filter. Here are a couple examples https://imgur.com/a/8siqhUU

Looks like that's how they really are. The game uses this texture to color the walkers in-game, this might be a mask texture. Don't quote me on that though, but based on multiple games that I've extracted from, this seems to be the case.

I figured it must have been intentional to some extent. Mask texture does make sense though, thanks for shedding some light on this!

for instance this is the default textures without the other texture blending over it:

where this is the intended look from the game:

Huh, are most of the bones on a model properly named at least? If not, then you might not have the TelltaleHashDBs folder in the right location -- it should be in a folder location like this:

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2010\Scripts
...well, based on whichever 3DS Max version you have and drive letters, of course. But yeah, if the folder is there, it should be able to parse the texture names just fine, it shouldn't be falling back to those hashed names like that. Perhaps I should make a revision to the script so that you can choose a folder to search in if it doesn't automatically find it somehow.

Or if it is, maybe try running 3DS Max as an administrator? Could be a dumb permissions issue.
