yes, that's one of the many errors I got when using valve's latest version of the SMD tools. Why I attached the older version to this thread. (here: viewtopic.php?p=103157#p103157 ) You should use that older version. be sure to remove the newer plugin version first, and start new scene to make sure it uses the older version.

I reported the problems to the plugin creators, but they seem not too interested in fixing their plugin.

UPD: Trouble solved. In windows 7 language regional settings changed comma to point in decimal divider.

Really? Software shouldn't be using regional settings for internal functions. That should only be for user display. Shame on blender (or Valve) for doing that. But glad you found the solution.

Works for ps3 version of the game (someone requested) u need to specify --endianBIG though

so like

--meta --endianBIG -p O:\RamBox\alien\UI.PAK O:\_extractedPAK

and it will work in big endian mode :)

the game was originally 3rd person. so therefore these models can be used in conjunction with the player animations and pull the camera out and back.

Hi - thanks for all your work cra0 + volfin.

@cra0: Any chance for some sort of beta download of the Object Assembler you were showing? Basically I'm just looking for a nice way to get Props/Environment over into 3ds Max including the textures.

I'll try out the Blender to 3ds Max workflow.. but your tool would certainly make that process way way easier.

Cheers!,
racket.

I have some problem with extraction normal maps.
I extract textures with AITexPAKExtract_0.3/4 and converted it with two tools - texconv and texgenpack.
https://directxtex.codeplex.com/releases/view/612866
https://github.com/hglm/texgenpack

most textures converted correct but normal map - don't.
texgenpack - Error -- unsupported format in .dds file (fourCC = ATI2, DX10 format = 0)
texconv - reading filename FAILED (80004005)
may be problem with fileheader?

Has anyone figured out where the complete models for Amanda can be found? I'm only ever able to find partial ones... Do they even exist?
