Editing levels for "Venice"?

AKA Venice Deluxe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venice_(video_game) It comes with 71 levels. Once you beat the regular game you can play Flood mode where the same levels are played but with the water level steadily increasing. There's also an endless survival mode. Periodically through regular and f...

Re: "The Outforce" .box files.

Try opening the maps outside the game, in a text or hex editor. Both one of the included skirmish maps and yours with the problem. Might be able to spot differences and see what's wrong.

Re: "The Outforce" .box files.

Can you open one of the included multiplayer maps? Perhaps examining that will help? One thing I found about those maps is they're not hard limited to the number of players listed. It will stuff the extras in where ever it can find room. I used to run 8 players on the Small Encounters map, all AI, j...

Re: "The Outforce" .box files.

No idea why you don't have RADAR. o3 Games promised a level building tutorial but never delivered. :( One issue that can be a problem, and was never patched, is when the AI builds buildings too close to the bottom edge of the map, it can't figure out how to get newly built ships out of them. Since e...

Re: "The Outforce" .box files.

What would be nice to have is a complete list of console commands and their parameters. o3 Games did post a command list on their old forum but I neglected to save a copy. :( I do remember that using selectgroup 0 could be used to cheat. Everything not grouped is in group 0, including all the AI's s...

Re: "The Outforce" .box files.

It would be nice if they'd release the source code, or at least what they had done on the Crion and Gobin campaigns. The trick to beating the final Terran level is to have a teleporter ready and targeted somewhere. Turn the teleporter off and park some ships on it. When you blow up the enemy base, w...

Re: "The Outforce" .box files.

Far as I know, only the demo, a 1.01 patch for the European version and the "finished" game were released. Would've been nice had there been Crion and Gobin campaigns, more multiplayer maps and an update to make the three races play different, more like how Starcraft is instead of having a...

Re: "The Outforce" .box files.

Sweet! Now we need some people to put together campaigns for the Crion and Gobin races and more multiplayer maps. Would be nice to get the source code released, or find some other way to alter the three races so they're not completely identical other than most unit names, graphics and sounds. For pl...

Re: Source engine .mdl decompiler that doesn't require Steam?

Here's the vstdlib.dll that actually works with Erik's fixed version of CannonFodder's decompiler.

Here's where I found this version of the dll. http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/show ... p?t=592985

Re: Source engine .mdl decompiler that doesn't require Steam?

I found an older copy of the vstdlib.dll that mdldecompiler.exe (the supposedly bugfixed version of the one by CannonFodder) complained about. With that and tier0.dll in the same folder, it works. Valve updated vstdlib.dll (among other things) and that broke the decompiler, which nobody has bothered...

Source engine .mdl decompiler that doesn't require Steam?

I want to decompile a couple of .mdl files from Portal but the only app I've found that can requires Steam to be installed. It will need to specifically support "Orange Box" Half Life 2 and Portal .MDL files. From what I read on the Valve developer Wiki, they updated the .MDL (and .VTF and...

Re: Portal for PC?

Yup, found that and VTF Explorer, also free and independent of Steam, for extracting textures from VTF files. What I haven't yet been able to find is an .MDL decompiler that doesn't require Steam. I have found plugins for 3D Studio and Blender to import the 3D data *after* it's extracted from the .MDL

Portal for PC?

I've been searching the wide web for about 3 hours and haven't found squat for extracting the PC version of Portal. This is "helped" by the use of the word portal for so many things that don't happen to be this game. :bleh: (It's just another frigging website, not a bloody portal to anythi...
