Re: Telltale and Gametap - extract to translate

Post by NicotineLL »

For 2 straight days I try to resolve a problem with the font file (dds) but it seems impossible...

For editing I use nVidia plug-in for Photoshop (although I downloaded 5-6 other programs) but when I save the file it's either with a background or it doesn't show in-game.

What I do is, I hex the original font file to leave only the dds headers. Then I load it into PS and in alpha channel I put my edited font (black background with white letters). Then I save it in DXT5, I put the header back in and import it into the ttarch file.

I do something wrong, but I can't figure out what. May be I should change something in the saving options or I don't know...

Does anybody have a clue how to fix this :[

Edit:
By the law of Murphy "I HAD TO post to find the answer..."

Apparently I should have used the option "No MIP maps" rather than "Generate MIP maps"...

You need to use the version 8 and the new parámeter x to correct an error, if you don't then you have to do it manually with a hex editor... The correct syntax is the following:

ttarchext -b -V 8 -x 26 C:\0.ttarch C:\Spinnercay

We already have spanish translation ready for this chapter, and that's how I packed the new ttarch

Dear gamers:
I have successfully extract the subtitles of Tales of monkey island 1 and 2 and the first episode of Wallace&Gromit with the help of the tool provided by Den Em.
can Den Em help with the other titles of Wallace&Gromit.. It seems other langdb editors are needed. many thanks.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think its because the Sam and Max games use a slightly different meta file encryption for the dds and font files. That's why the files appear to be decoded correctly, with correct headers but are missing the 'font' and 'dds' headers later in the file.

There are two (speculative) possibilities: either the meta encryption is tweaked slightly for these files (possibly with different blowfish/block sizes) or a further pass of the file with some other action is needed to fully decode it.

If you compare the dds files with those from other games (eg the small colorxxx files) you can see how Sam and Max (and Texas Holdem) dds files are decoded differently. I've never managed to fix this, perhaps someone else will be able to help you though :)

Hi all,

I've just added letters (à è ì ò ù) to the weathered_sf_30.font dds image, in the empty spaces (those with the block char).
Now, how do i map these letters in the image to the letters in the langdb editor?
Should I edit the abc.txt file? How?

Well, the langdb editor didn't work well, so I went to edit the file directly and now the chars are visible, finally.

Now I need to know how to reduce the space between the new chars (àèìòù) and the normal ones....

Pleeeeeeease  I won't tell anybody you told me! :ninja:

Did you use the -m option when you extracted the files? Because in the instructions say you have not to use this option if you think rebuild the file.

Anyway, you only have to write:

ttarchext.exe -b 6 output.ttarch c:\your folder (for culture shock, for example).

Have you tried this and the game doesn't work? What is the fail? Doesn't start? Crash?

Regards.

Hey guys, I finally been able to extract the .dds file from weathered_sf_30.font.

I edited the dds fine, but does anyone know how to import it back inside the .font file?

I just need that, I don't know how to do it. Any tips?

@damnor, did you make it?

@johntus, I did using a program called Dragon UnPACKer. Hope it helps you.
