Re: Kingdom Hearts 2 Map files
If you hex edit the exe, and replace all instances of map/jp/ with map/us/ , you will be able to export the maps from KH2 ULUS.
BBSFM and KH2FM+ saves are compatible with KH2.5. viewtopic.php?t=13424

Anyone have ModelViewerWX3D9 anymore? The MOST updated version? The 0.4 version?

Re: Kingdom Hearts 2 Map files
Hi.
Sorry. recently I'm very lazy.
What I can do is to just ask google for any clue.
Make vertex colors visible

This manual topic benefits you?
Thanks.

Sorry again, I don't have Autodesk Maya. (i have only Blender or such free softwares)iwantedtoexplode wrote:It seems that the vertex color information transfers over into Maya, since when I open the Component Editor, the vertices have various RGBA values assigned to them under the Advanced Polygons tab (don't really expect anyone to understand that, since this isn't a Maya forum, but I figured I'd say it anyway ). Hopefully it's only a matter of getting them to render.
If anyone has any other suggestions, I'm open to hearing them I will keep you up to date as I make progress.

Re: Kingdom Hearts 2 Map files
Thanks for your reply, and the link. I looked at that a few weeks back, but didn't have any success with it. I'll spend some more time now though.kkdf2 wrote:Hi.

However, I did use Blender to export the meshes into an .fbx file that Maya can use. Maybe if I'm able to get things working well in Blender, it will transfer over. Do you know a way of making vertex colors renderable in Blender? It displays pretty well in the viewport, but when rendered, no vertex colors. I think I was able to get some of it working, but I had to manually go to each part of the mesh and adjust the render settings, and as there are over 2000 draw cells, this isn't very plausible. Know of a faster way? Anything else you can think of that I might be able to do in Blender? Like if I can bake them to textures or lights, that's a more concrete process. As I said before, I'm willing to work with any program, so long as I can ultimately get it into Maya.
Thanks!

Re: Kingdom Hearts 2 Map files
Sorry to bump an old thread, but i remember that somewhere the was a mention of how to get one of the dumpers to extract 1 specific file that it hadnt dumped first time through typing a specific command in that program and it would dump that file, but does anyone know which program can do this and how i would go about it?

Re: Kingdom Hearts 2 Map files
Has anyone ever attempted to extract map models from original PS2 KH1FM game or 1.5 game?

Re: Kingdom Hearts 2 Map files
I am a pretty new to this but has any body explored the .map animations, like the cloud and water textures moving?
each mesh seems to have a section of texture it controls for possible animation. are there bones you can control in the .map files?
I have been working on this for a while and thought someone else might be interested too. I am using noesis among others to view the map files, I don't know who made it but I also use the classic KH2FM map viewer that has the hex viewer too, thanks guys!

Re: Kingdom Hearts 2 Map files
I believe those animations were available to view in yaz0r's ModelViewerWX v0.5, but all links to it were removed from this thread. I may have a copy on an old hard drive, so I'll see if I can dig it up.

Re: Kingdom Hearts 2 Map files
That would be awesome! I have most of the assets ripped from the original disk, will the .map animation files be .mset?
in the noesis viewer I couldn't find bones to move the map textures, like the water or the clouds. all i found where dozens of independent meshes that I assume control the texture animation.
also, are the effects like the lens flare and water sparkling in the sun (from the destiny islands map,) within the .map file, or are they separate, perhaps in a .2ld file?
This thread has taught me how to rip view the .map files. I have one of yaz0rs first model viewers from years ago but I haven't been able to find it again.
Thank you so much!
I checked and I have the .3 version of Yaz0rs model viewer, did he add .map support? that would be awesome.
