I can only assume any other client you are talking about (including the one pictured on the previous page) is the developer client, which yes, uses a different server and cookie and works fine.

As for the public one, the valid cookie only tells the Akamai mirror to forward the request to the origin server and that is what is happening here. Whether or not the server can supply the content right now is really irrelevant to my argument. The cookie is serving its purpose and the request is being forwarded. If you have another client that differs from these two, by all means, post the info.

when i double click it (python is installed), it opens a black window then close automaticly.
Hi there,
If you check my post out a few up you can see how I executed with the default python install. Go to a dos prompt, cd into the directory you have the script, and run the command I listed above. I'd be curious to see if it works for you (since it didn't for me). Double clicking it doesn't provide the 101 that is needed at the end to tell the script which install to fetch.

The Developer client uses the same authentication cookie as the beta client, Therefore the old dev client doesnt work either.

and the developer client doesnt use a different server it uses the same server just a different branch its like ftp but without login/password instead an authentication cookie.

The dev cookie was changed weeks ago. Using the new cookie it works fine.

And okay yes, they all run through Akamai.

Any way you could upload the files needed to get started? Worried that my internetspeed wont suffice if they send me the link on Tuesday or later! :)

Without the new cookie that script is useless so it really doesn't matter...

Aye, sorry man, if someone spills the new cookie we can update the script and explain in more detail. Right now it'd be for nothing.

Yes the whole issue is the cookie they dont have routing issues. My speculation is they are going to give the beta client and the dev client their own authentication cookie to prevent people from downloading their dev client. Besides all the people asking for the download its useless for their purposes because it wont work for the BWE since its a developer client. I think they made a mistake when they uploaded the new launcher exe first and then changed the authentication cookie, which gave some people access to the new cookie.

Interesting speculation. As I already mentioned and has been mentioned on previous pages of this thread, the dev client received its own cookie weeks ago. You seem to stand firm with it and I've made my argument, but it's not uncommon for their servers to experience such issues.

Probably because it would be spread all over the internet since this thread has been linked on reddit now, and ArenaNet could do something to prevent us from downloading (unlikely, but yeah).

Also we would have an influx of people that don’t know how to make simple stuff like edit an file on notepad asking things like “how this work?” or “will I have to download it again later?”, and if they have to, they’ll come here angry about that because now it’s our fault, even though they downloaded it from their own volition still knowing it could happen.

Simply put, for the sake of peace, I don’t think anyone will share the new cookie, but if they did, I’d appreciate :P

Either way, it's 403 now. Maybe they were just preparing it for the BWE. The only way to know for sure is to get your hands on the new cookie and try to downlaod the latest file from branch 101 instead of 102.

Why would you even want it its useless. You wouldnt be able to use it for BWE since its the developer client and not the beta client and their dat files are different anyways. Only use for it is for research on unpacking the dat but thats it.

Well, as far as i understand:
It's the same cookies for the beta and the dev client.
So in theory I could download the beta client instead, isn't that right!?
