I have extracted these models before, from what I remember it was fairly easy. All the info was pretty easy to find, just google it.

If you can import to blender you can probably save it as a fbx or something and open up in max with bones, animations etc.

There shouldnt be needed with a script for this

FBX and DAE export plugins in blender are really buggy, but i think that in your situation, you did something wrong in FBX export preferences. As i remeber, default settings of blender FBX plugin, are to export "Selected Objects", so you must select all the objects that you want to export or set the option "Scene Objects" instead.
There are also some tricks in Max FBX importer - you can "convert skeleton to dummy" or "Leave as bones"..so try to play with some options, but as i say it's still buggy and sometimes happens that some things imports wrong...for example weights or some animation keys.

Sorry for my english.

Hello,

I know this is an verry old topic but I would like to ask some questions in the hope someone could answer them.

There is an import script for importing models/animations from the HoN game into the newest version of Blender and it works for most of the models but there are quite a lot that have some weighting problems (mesh deformation) i guess when importing an animation after I imported the mesh. I was hoping if there is someone who is able to take a look at the import script in the hope he/she could find some buggy code or something.

This is the import script: https://ufile.io/7p9hy

And here are some game assets samples. I put everything into on zip file. https://ufile.io/dfxis
Models are named (.model) file
Anim are named (.clip) file

INstall the python files and please try it out, first import the .model an then import the .clip file while selecting the armature.
HOpefully someone is willing to take a look and maybe provide an update for the script or an solution within Blender itself.

Thanks in advance,

PS: Im willing to pay for an updated import script!

Here is an updated link for the Blender import scripts:

!DOESN'T WORK! High poly (.model) file with armature and the idle/walk (.clip) animations.

!WORKS! High poly (.model file with armature and the idle/walk (.clip) animations.

Video showing the deformed mesh after importing the .clip animation file:

Hope you can update the scrips.

With Blender 2.75 I get an "IndexError: list index out of range" for all four clip files.

(ok, you need to select the bones before you can import a clip file)

Well, see, Chi's breast is wrapped, very strange. Need to log the weights, but this doesn't seem to be easy to be solved because the rest of the bodiy looks ok.

maybe it's a matter of missing bones:

version: 2
num bones: 130
num frames: 33
Bip02 Footsteps not found in armature
Bone007 not found in armature
Bone016 not found in armature
Bone021 not found in armature
Bone027 not found in armature
Bip01 Footsteps not found in armature
Bone024 not found in armature
Bone003 not found in armature
Bone029 not found in armature
Bone018 not found in armature
