what exactly you do? unpacked just map+big or bnks too? big+maps are remains in game dir, or you removed them after unpacking?

1. I removed files *.big + *.map
2. I removed files *.big

All unpacked files in "Euro" folder.

result: game crashes.

Yeah, we already figured that out. :bleh:


I don't think the game can run a type of "loose" option like NFS Shift can. So I think we may have to try and figure out how to repack.

Hello everyone,

i just made this little prog that will open anyone's filelist.log and rename and build the file structures, so you can already see what you've done and what you're missing.

Steps are easy:
1. Using qwerty's script (xmbf) and quickbms, decompress all big map files (1,2,3,4,5) into one folder
2. Open up the tool and select your filelist.log, then
3. Select your extracted bin files folder
Hit Start to let it do the magic. in the end, you'll be having folders with the renamed files in them, all in the correct structure. the files converted are removed from their original position.

4 the more you play, more lines are added into the filelist.log. That's ok, you can still open the same file, the tool will skip these lines next time you use it ;)

This way, anyone can download anybody's log file and do the process, so we can all know what files are already passed and no need to do them again :)

Thanks vagos21! I think I found a way to automate driving through roads via a built-in function of the game. I'm still testing it and will let you know if it's any good.

I'm already at 11816 unique hashes and I'm not even done with Hawaii. :eek:

11816?!? i just extracted all 5 big files, all i got is 9151 files.... am i missing something?

can you upload your latest filelist.log so i can process the files and see which ones are missing? or see if you've consumed a whole of the big files :D

Meanwhile, I start sorting all the unpacked files and found that game sometimes trying to access to non-existing files and this hashes are going to filelist too. For example, we have 2 lines in filelist:

FFD4F6F234CBDF76 "islands/ibiza/level/area-4/area-4-4/sector-4-4-0-0.bnk"
but only file with hash D8B9EFC4D1C4FE14 is exist in unpacked files. Thats why in filelist more lines, then files in archives. This happens because these names are generated using some masks and not stored anywhere in game exe.
For sorting all bin files i used simple cmd script:

for /F "tokens=1*" %%A in (filelist.log) do move %%A.bin %%B
if you want to see the progress we already achieved:
  • unpack all big+map into 1 folder using first version of the script. it's important to use first version, so all files have bin extension.
  • copy your (or my) filelist.log into folder with unpacked files
  • save filelist.cmd to this folder and run it.
after few seconds you've got files sorted (but also an empty folders for files that are present in filelist.log but not on your drive, you may delete those empty folders)
ps: in filelist 4287 lines, but sorted are only 3643 files.

Good job guys. :) I guess I stick to exploring Ibiza as Chipicao has got Hawaii going pretty good. I noticed that in clothes shops you need to go through the clothes and just entering the shop won't be enough.

Was just going to wonder about the high hash count Chipicao got. Thanks qwerty for explanation, I was bit confused what was causing it as I checked a few .bin and the uncompressed filenames weren't being logged.

ok, I typed my previous post few hours ago, before vagos21's posted his tool, but then get distracted and forgot to post the message :D
so, my script does exactly the same work as vagos21's tool.
every car in game exists in high-, med- and low- res models. almost all hi-res cars are now sorted, but med-res and low-res are not.
Chipicao, can you lower your graphic settings and drive unsorted cars once again? :roll: Especially the cars that are not available in car dealers. (DLC, club, rewards, etc)
also, about clothes and haircuts - it seems that game have different resources for male and female avatars (and may be even for different races). so everyone may visit clothes shops and may try different haircuts so we get more hashes:)
and the last one question. is there non-english players? many sounds and few textures are exist in different languages. it would be great if you can discover some of them. ;)

I just noticed myself that med cars are't loaded when you visit the dealers, but they are loaded when you encounter opponents on the street. I'll try viewing them again with lower settings, hope it works.

Good news: the trick I was talking about earlier about driving automatically works.
Great news: we don't need it! :D It seems that just looking at the map at the highest zoom level loads all files. I went through both islands and then I drove for a while; no additional hashes were added.

I was already planning on loading the game in russian, so I guess I can also do that. But there's one thing that I can't access: Clubs. Can anyone help with that?

has anyone worked on the xmb files and made a viewer or something? some of them have little endian byte order and others big endian...

@chipicao, yes max zoom level equals to the high-detail terrain sectors that the island is using, amazing isn't it :D

I got 16263 unique hashes, out of which only 6158 were any good. This means there are 2993 files left.

TODO
- radio songs and commercials; I'll leave the game running tonight, that should take care of it
- med care files;
- rim files; it seems that getting into the car is not enough, you have to browse through all rims
- racing school licenses and cars
- russian language
- female character (speech and clothes); does anyone know if you have to view all clothes or is it enough to just enter the shop?
- events (championships, duels, instant challenge, random characters, treasure hunt, photographs...)
- Clubs - I can't go into clubs
- Casino - there's a room I can't access, and also 3 prizes (clothes, furniture and stickers)

Excuse my slight stupidity.

I tried that and it crashed, so what did you do that I may of missed? I used vagos21 tool to rename them, put those into the TDU2 "Euro" folder. Got rid of the bigfile_EU_5.big+map but crashed.
