@playah- using that double and triple I/O garbage is useless.. those methods are simply the voice of ...idkwtf
(open collada/dae/3dsimed/doing a rain dance while clicking your heels together and saying there's no place like duh)

directly import the Forza Studio created lod1.obj and cockpit.obj into Max, delete all the a_pillar and shared lod0 body parts,
select all> convert to editable poly> apply meshsmooth modifier (modifier drop down) iterations = 0 > collapse stack

you are now free to edit the mesh and/or export to 3ds (or any other format you want for any other 3d application)

sorry, but the lod0 meshes are not viable ..unless left untouched (editable mesh) and used for rendering purposes-
given the circumstances, optimally, one would use the lod1 model with HQ cockpit, then substituting lod1 details for lod0 (lights, wipers, hood pins/latches, ect. ect.)
and using the same aforementioned method (editable mesh>editable poly>meshsmooth 0> collapse) on all the detailed lod0 parts you integrate-

If I may ask a stupid question: So why doesn't that method work for lod0?

Sure you Exported as Open Collada and not Autodesk FBX Collada?

You dont need to take ways using open collada, 3DSimED, and other stuffs..

just import the mesh, and when the OBJ import dialogue shows up, untick "smoothing groups"
export to 3DS
import in ZModeler1
saev
open in ZModeler2

If you say it sucks, make a better one. Until then, shut up.

Hm. Maybe, because it actually WORKS?

I would appreciate it if all zmodeler argumentative discussions took place outside of this thread...

there's far too many possible causes for me to accurately say why

edit- btw Ernegien, Roman didn't seem interested in lookn at the source, all he did was dissect the .obj and give the same conclusion we already know
(your excerpt about FM3 files lacking the appropriate smoothing data so smoothing is forced into per vert params) - I couldn't convince him to eval the source, sry

it's not brain surgery people-

create a new material, load the map, drop it on the corresponding part

For you, its easy.
But I dont like and dont work with 3DS Max ;)
Come on, you expect everyone is stupid?
And they got brain surgery?

Ontopic,
Sorry, I dont like this kinda people, thinking people are stupid and got brain surgery.
No one is perfect.

I have respect for you Energien, now already made .zip files import!
Its getting alot better!
Keep it the good work man! :)

And ow, I have looked into the carbin files and found some
interesting words like "black, leather, chrome, tire, window, glassRM, headlightL" and some other.
Maybe its not interesting, but could be they are the material names?
And they are like copied 2 times, so they have these model seperated in
each part.
But I gues you already figured them out.
i only wants to try to help :)

lol- "it's not brain surgery" means you don't have to be a flippn genius doctor brain surgeon to figure the sheet out..

but if you're too got damn lazy to google "3dsmax material tutorial" and spend 3 minutes learning how to do it, then yes, you're STUPID
of all the things to learn in Max, creating materials is by far one of the less daunting tasks- so there's no excuse for you..
but hey, you don't like Max.. so instead of learning, why don't you ask Ernegien to create other export formats just for YOU (ass)

btw, every single part of the model has the material name within the part name itself (eg; some_some_carbonfiber_some)
but if you're using that completely worthless method of double and triple I/O, I guess you wouldn't kno that would you-
and about the double maps, you did read the names of them yes? the ones that have "lod0" in the name are for the..

now you guess

and don't be coward, man up, the reason you "don't like" me is because of nfsx's useless thread where I stood up for what I believe in
(eg- showed more balls and character than you could in an entire lifetime of mediocrity) and with that, I've said my peace..
don't expect a response from me to any of your irrelevant blathering or mental diarrhea after this post :)

btw, I don't like people like you, acting like everything is so effn hard to do and completely out of reach so that others will feel sorry
for you and feed everything to you on a silver spoon - quit acting like a baby, take some responsibility for yourself and LEARN
