Actually, they are trying to use zlib there, but there is no zlib in DMC4.
I have managed to unpack .arc archives, but that is still too dirty hack, to be released..

lol, that progress is me too ^_^.
I assumed the archives were just DRs. Theoretically they are, just compressed differently.

By unpacking the .arc archives you mean you were able to extract the different files or did you actually figure out the compression method used? If so care to shared which compression method they used?juskrey wrote: I have managed to unpack .arc archives, but that is still too dirty hack, to be released..
Thanks.

Re: [PC] Devil May Cry 4
I'm looking for the sound effects of the game, but apparently i'm blind, or they don't exist in the form of sngw/ogg files.
Anybody here know where they are? If they're stuck in an ARC file then i guess i'll just have to wait it out. :/

Re: [PC] Devil May Cry 4
No to both. First one will extract the files but they will be empty because the compression method changed between Lost Planet and DMC4 as already mentioned, while the structure of the arc file did not.ichigoogle wrote:Do these work?

In short all you can get is the tree structure of the files (and files names) extracted, but no actual data in uncompressed form.
As far as the sound effects, they are stored in compressed format within the arc files, so unless the compression method is found the only alternative is to manually record them, assuming you can find a quiet place in the game where to isolate the sounds you need.

Re: [PC] Devil May Cry 4
Some progress.
The .msg files contain unicode text, with MSG2 header. The texts encoded, maybe XOR or something like that, because I see the unicode format.
The .tex files with TEX header is simple .DDS files without header.
I installed the Russian DMC4 version(The eng to rus patch is 36MB->Google), and the modified files inside the .arc files, are not compressed. For example, the nowloading.arc. (I attached the uncompressed file.)
The uncompressed .tex (or .msg) file inside the arc, is not so simple edit or view. Just every 5th byte is the really data. (sample in attachment)
I hope now someone can write an extractor/repacker to arc.

Re: [PC] Devil May Cry 4
why not try extracting the archive then removing the archive and replacing it with that folder most of the time this will work.
