Since the last time I posted, I've added another couple hundred bone names, resulting in well over 6,000 currently identified (but that's where I'm gonna stop for now before I get too side-tracked again), and also updated the script to use that database instead of the embedded names.

Holy crap you're awesome. 6,000 bones though? That's mental. Is it that many because all the games use a different.. I dunno (lol) for the bones?

I'm looking forward to grabbing those season 2, michonne and wolf maps! Maybe even Borderlands :D this is going to be fun!

I didn't realise it was potentially so close! You're a wizard, RTB, I'm super grateful for your work and the effort you put into it. You're doing a great job, man.

Technically, yes. Up until Batman: The Telltale Series, all of the face bones for a character had their name prefixed to them (I assume that's so that their faces don't break if they load someone else's animations). For example:

Code: Select all

clementine_browCenter_L
clementine_browCenter_R
clementine_browInner_L
clementine_browInner_R
clementine_browOuter_L
clementine_browOuter_R
clementine_cheekUpper_L
clementine_cheekUpper_R
clementine_cheek_L
clementine_cheek_R
clementine_eyelidLower_L
clementine_eyelidLower_R
clementine_eyelidUpper_L
clementine_eyelidUpper_R
clementine_eyePivot_L
clementine_eyePivot_R
clementine_eyePupil_L
clementine_eyePupil_R
clementine_eye_L
clementine_eye_R
clementine_jaw
clementine_mouthCorner_L
clementine_mouthCorner_R
clementine_mouthLowerInner_L
clementine_mouthLowerInner_R
clementine_mouthLowerOuter_L
clementine_mouthLowerOuter_R
clementine_mouthUpperInner_L
clementine_mouthUpperInner_R
clementine_mouthUpperOuter_L
clementine_mouthUpperOuter_R
clementine_nose_L
clementine_nose_R
clementine_tongue
And since almost every character from Jurassic Park to TWD: Michonne has the same naming scheme for their face bones (give or take a few due to restructuring between games), that's where about 70% of those names came from.

Man, Batman's material setups were pretty annoying to work with, but it looks like I got it figured out. Here's hoping the last few games won't take me as long to write up (I started working on this shortly after my previous post, and just finished it a few minutes ago as of this post).

And also proof I'm not spouting hot air regarding adding texture support. :P

(EDIT: TWD Season 3 has the exact same material setups, how convenient!)

Oh man, this is really exciting. This update is gonna feel like a whole new tool!

Time to start converting every .d3dtx I have in advance, I'd say!

Do you even have to? Wouldn't the script auto convert textures when importing them?

You'll probably want to wait before you do that, I'm gonna be giving my texture-conversion scripts an update sometime afterward to fix up their remaining issues (as well as retain their mipmaps). Either way it still wouldn't import the D3DTX files directly, it'd still need to be converted to DDS/PNG first as it's always been.

Season 1 (The Telltale Series), I'll be working on doing the same for The Enemy Within later today.

(EDIT: Looks like the rest of the games up to The Final Season are identical, material-wise! So in that case, looks like there's only one thing left for the script...!)

Not to jinx you or anything lol, but it's usually when you're about to finish that you hear people saying "My hdd broke" or something along those lines lol

Gawd, I hope not, the drive I've been currently using is less than a year old, and I've been making it a habit to make backups of my projects across multiple drives.

Yeah it's looking like the autotexturing is going smoothly, just need so see what the sitch is on importing twd4 models I believe (which might be a bit more finnicky).
