One more example how those textures were mangled. Original was somethinglike 92x92 and I doubled it. Here I distinctly remember that I numbered the texture with equally spaced numbers like this: 123 567 I got only 12 and that 2 already badly deformed? Try running the content of few randomly extracted files through TrID (online) :

Maybe you will be lucky and ID tool will recognise 3D format.
Looking into file with HexEditor could give some hints too.

If it is just renamed format extension of something more standard in 3D, then format recognition utylities may give you a hint. Try running the content of the file through TrID (online) :

Perhaps take a look over here for some informations and further links about MGS. If known already, sorry. Dar format sounds to me rather like still some kind of compressed archive than 3D.
