so effectively you need 4 times the space just to double the resolution! That is obviously correct. But what throws me off here is that strange deformation of "2". I would expect to see croped texture , but with aspect ratio maintained. My previous mention about that "wave" disp...

One more example how those textures were mangled. Original was somethinglike 92x92 and I doubled it. Here I distinctly remember that I numbered the texture with equally spaced numbers like this: 123 567 I got only 12 and that 2 already badly deformed? Ugly anyway. :P Wanted to make prettier. ...

Try running the content of few randomly extracted files through TrID (online) :
http://mark0.net/soft-trid-e.html
Maybe you will be lucky and ID tool will recognise 3D format.
Looking into file with HexEditor could give some hints too.
No guarantees though, but as above - pure luck.

If it is just renamed format extension of something more standard in 3D, then format recognition utylities may give you a hint. Try running the content of the file through TrID (online) :

Sorry to be a pesymist here. :( KMD sounds to me like "Konami model". Remember reading once article about some port of japanese PS console game to PC. as it turns out, the software rasterizer is the least of our problems... all I'll say is that spaghetti C and PSX assembly commented in Jap...

Perhaps take a look over here for some informations and further links about MGS. If known already, sorry. Dar format sounds to me rather like still some kind of compressed archive than 3D.

Gathering all informations about 3D format is one thing and puting them into file specification is quite another. This small echange of ours made me to find and visit some place which can serve as an example of proper 3D file documentation. Place I am talking about is Multigen Paradigm here: http://...
