Re: Star Stable Online - CSA & TGA files
I’m not sure either anymore 😂 I only wanted to make a blender model of the main character but so far I have a main character model with all the game items attached to it that I can’t get rid of and a load of flat png. ‘Textures’ I’ve probably messed up big time somewhere :( maybe I used a bad scrip...

Re: Star Stable Online - CSA & TGA files
BUT i need the .pmt files to build her up from scratch and they're the only thing i havent been able to touch. Hope this makes sense lol can anyone help? thanks in advance! I'm not really sure what your question is. The PMT files defines the materials used on different parts of the models. Most imp...

Re: Star Stable Online - CSA & TGA files
How do I paste the crn file into the csa file though? I'm assuming that putting the crn file into csa file's directory wouldn't do anything, so how should I do it? I've tried using bms (reimport mode) with ikskoks' script, but it didn't do anything. With a hexeditor for example. Open the CSA with t...

Re: Star Stable Online - CSA & TGA files
The first thing I would try would be to just paste the CRN-file into the CSA-file over the original data. If it's smaller than the original, then it might be as simple as that, but they might also do some checks on the size and checksums, and if so the best option is to write a script to do it so yo...

Re: Star Stable Online - CSA & TGA files
It can most likely be done, but it's probably harder now than before. Before, the textures were not compressed which meant that even if you changed it, it would stay the exact same size. So you could just paste a new texture over the original. Today, most textures are compressed, and that means that...

Re: Star Stable Online - CSA & TGA files
Hi! Thank you, you're a savior. I've been looking for bones and animations as well 'cause as you said the 3D object converter doesn't import those at all. Since you've said that no data (except for the text strings) is encrypted I've wondered if you know any way to open the bone and animation files...

Re: Star Stable Online - CSA & TGA files
Yes, exactly. The script tries to save the files with the source name (.tga) instead of the true name (.pte). The true name is only in the csaheader-file.

Re: Star Stable Online - CSA & TGA files
As far as I know PTE and TGA are (almost?) the same file formats. Both are containers for CRN files used by crunch. Not really, TGA is simply the standard Targa file format (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truevision_TGA) and has nothing to do with PTE or CRN. The references to TGA-files in the CSA-f...

Re: Star Stable Online - CSA & TGA files
I understood the second step when using the crunch, but what do I do with the .pte file, is it just to change the extension to .dds or .crn? It depends on if you have the full PTE file, or if the texture has already been extracted from it. You can check this if you open it with a hexeditor. If the ...

Yup,pretty muchkapibarcia wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 9:52 pmThe version we used before was an older version and Star Stable Online uses a newer version of Crunch. At least that's what I understood from locknut's post.

Re: Star Stable Online - CSA & TGA files
Hi! I stumbled on this forum thread while researching the CSA file format ("Cold Storage Archive" btw). I saw that there are a lot of discussions regarding the texture resources and thought that I should contribute. Long Story Short they are not encrypted. They are just compressed with a n...
