Thank you MDA, this looks great!

I've got a question though... is hair in Syndicate just the same as Unity (and thus not extractable due to shaders and all) or is the game using meshes with additional effects this time?

So far, unfortunately, all I have found is similar to what we had in AC:Unity.

[EDIT]
After a little more hunting I can expand on this. Major characters appear to use a mix of strand-style (much like AC:Unity hair) and overlapping faces (primarily for the roots). Other character models use the basic overlapping faces style. Facial hair I've only seen using the overlapping faces style.

Uhm, so there is a good chance for us to get the real thing without having to recreate the hair all the time (and getting a crappy result anyway)? If by 'overlapping faces' you mean something like textured meshes...

Some Syndicate support and Black Flag MP support! What an awesome update, can't wait for it :D

This might give you a better idea of what I'm talking about.

Ahhhh okay makes sense now! Thank you for the screenshots :D really helpful! Is there a working texture for those mesh pieces (with alpha and all) or is it just like Unity where you only got a plain color?

I wonder how they do it. Maybe using some kind of particle system, with the roots as the base, following the strands. Cant wait to play around! Thanks MDA!

Strand styles would be very helpful in recreating the hair used by the in-game hair systems (such as TressFX and NVIDIA HairWorks) in 3D systems. Finding and being able to extract the color/instructions for those hair systems would also greatly increase our ability to duplicate their look in 3D.

I do have a request for when you do some work on the 3D window... Can you add a system so we can change the controls used for the 3D window? I'd love to be able to set it up to work like Maya's windows.

Version 3.01.02.0 Now Available! (Link is in my sig)

Adds AC:Syndicate support (split texture map issue has been solved)
Adds ACIV:Black Flag multi-player support
Fixes some model issues in AC:Unity
Fixes model viewing issue in AC:Rogue

I'm sure there are a few other things that I fixed and forgotten about, but the above are the major adds/fixes.

If you want to play around with the Hair Meshes and you are using 3DSMax, you may want to grab my arxImporter. The OBJ importer will not import those meshes. Not sure how other modeling programs will handle it. And because there are no visible faces, you will not see anything in ARchive_neXt's viewport or in the Perspective viewport in 3DSMax unless you enable "Edged Faces" (that's how I produced the screenshot for Evie's Hair in my previous post).

@RunaWhite
I didn't find any hair textures for those models that I posted, but I've only been playing around inside the DataPC.forge and the DataPC_ACVI_London.forge files so far.

@pewposterous
I like your idea

@Kjasi
I'll have to dig into the Hair Meshes again at some point. Some of that information may be in the file somewhere and I just wasn't seeing it before. As for the 3D window, that's probably as good as I'm going to be able to give you unless I can find something that someone else has done that I can figure out how to plugin to ARchive_neXt. I've already tried a few when I first got the viewer working again that I wasn't able to make work. I may be able to give you the ability to change the keymapping, but beyond that...

Enjoy! I think I'm going to play a little bit AC - Something before tackling Rainbow Six Siege and waiting for bug reports. :ninja:

Thanks MDA. Only thing ive noticed, Hair strands show up blank for me, maybe because there no volume? Nothing to actually display.

Also, would there ever be a chance for a search feature? There files can be a mess to search through.

Thirdly, has anyone located eyes? I'm looking for Evie and Jacob specifically. Edit: Found Textures - AVCI_LIB_EyeTech_Eyeball). Now for the meshes

Once again, thanks for the hard work Mda, go enjoy AC! You've more than earned it

I had the same issue with hair in Unity, I couldn't properly display them unless the strands were selected but I could extrude them anyway to create volume.

I also found a shared hair texture with alpha channel, not sure if that works with Evie's and Jacob's roots though I need to test it.

Anyway, THANK YOU so much MDA for the work you did and always do!

EDIT: I just tried the shared hair map on Evie's root and it seems to work :D it will only require a simple recolor but it should definitely make things easier. Also it's good that the strands are separated in parts instead of being a huge block.

crashing...

Tried this tool this morning. But whenever I clicked (any) '+' (expand) (like #MichaelDarkAngel showed on the prev page), the tool returns an error. I could "continue" but that was pretty much it.
(tried several forge-files btw)

Just tried again, and now it returns with an 'faulting' [lzo.dll].
My question: what must be installed - as a prerequisite - to get the tool running fine?!

Can you screenshot the error you are receiving? What forge file(s) are you trying to open? What operating system are you running?
