We should probably just collect all DoA related stuff and put it here, even for the other games.

I happen to have all these games and I may try these tools out. Though perhaps explaining a full process in getting these models wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Not a request but typically tools are more useful when documented well.

why having the doax tools if you get better things with doax2 and noesis...

The tools for 3, x and ultimate are a pain to use. You get around 30 3ds files which you need to manually import in your 3d modeller and merge them together. Whats even worse is that all these "pieces" are centered at 0,0,0 so you need to manually reposition them (though its pretty easy to guess what goes where). Did I say that each 3ds file can contain multiple objects? well they do and you need to merge them as well.

The process is like this:
1. extract afs files from the isos
2. use AFSExplorer to get xpr files from the afs (which are 3d geometry + textures)
3. use one of the tools (like DOA3Exporter.exe) to convert the xpr to 3ds's and dds's.
4. load the 3ds's in your modeller, merge the pieces in each 3ds, remove doubles, recalculate normals (which are always wrong)
5. after you got all the 3ds files loaded and their pieces joined, connect the pieices to make up the body (i use Blender's snap tool).

i think i had a tutorial somewhere...

you can also use GreedXplorer to view the xpr files, and they are already repositioned for you, but this tool doesnt export.

If there was some info on xpr files, I could make a Blender importer. I think the main problem with the existing tools is they pobably ignore object matrices and thats why all the pieces are at 0,0,0. We could make an importer which does that automatically.

By my test it can take as long as an hour to build a complete character from the pieces.

@maniacoloco: well, there are some models which dont exist in doax2 (obviously), or even doa4 (are there any tools for that?) and maybe you just dont own the newer game. So noesis supports doax2?

All this for a few models? Would it kill someone to host some of them (Namely Hayabusa and Ayane)? And while on the subject of Team Ninja's models, has anybody looked into Ninja Gaiden Black? I was wondering if these tools might be compatible with it.

I wanna mod DOAX2 some more, but its lame if theres no-one else in on it.

if anyone's up for real modding, let me know. I'be got the hardware setup and any tools needed are already there or are easy to construct.
