Forza Motorsport Resource Extraction (.carbin)
Re: Forza Motorsport Resource Extraction (.carbin)
This latest version didn´t also work on my system, but now I got a error.txt from it.
BTW, my system:
OS W7 ultimate 64bits (portugal)
intel core quad cpu q9400
ATI radeon hd 5700 series
4GB ddr2
ps: I´ve tried it on my laptop and it works maybe it´s because the laptop uses a nvidia 9600m gt, and my desktop uses a nvidia, because the OS is the same in both
I´ve used Forza studio 5.23.10, 5.29.10, and 7.9.10 in both computers.
error.txt:

Re: Forza Motorsport Resource Extraction (.carbin)
Hi all.First of all, many thanks for your great work! I've a question: how can i open the files of the digital gauges (i mean the bgf,bsg and fbf files) ? I've made, with a friend of mine, some conversions from forza 3 but i've completely no idea how to convert those files. Thanks in advance.Bye!

Re: Forza Motorsport Resource Extraction (.carbin)
I took a quick glance at those files in a hex editor and I didn't really see any model data. Is it possible that they are used for something else instead?
Re: Forza Motorsport Resource Extraction (.carbin)
Ernegien, what file I must open to open track in Forza Studio?

Re: Forza Motorsport Resource Extraction (.carbin)
Under the tracks directory you can either open the entire bin.zip file, or the individual rmb.bin files inside of that zip if you have extracted the files already. I would recommend just opening the entire track zip...SandroX wrote:Ernegien, what file I must open to open track in Forza Studio?

Re: Forza Motorsport Resource Extraction (.carbin)
Forza Studio should be able to open the zip files and load every file it recognizes...
Re: Forza Motorsport Resource Extraction (.carbin)
Just updated to the latest Forza Studio. Some nice improvements! hats off to ya!
I have a question though. In unpacking a track bin I couldnt locate any texture files. All i have are bins and bix's I couldnt see them anywhere else in the iso structure so I wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction?
I'm yet to try unpacking each bin to see if it houses a single texture but i'm on my way to work so won't be able to try if for a while.
cheers,

Re: Forza Motorsport Resource Extraction (.carbin)
Yeah textures and shaders are internal to the .bix files I believe. I can only tell you that I've gotten through most of the .rmb.bin files which have all of the model data and then a reference to an .fxobj afterwards. I've also parsed through the main stx.bin track file enough to pull out a filetable and some other misc. information, and the .bix and .bin files are still completely unknown at the moment since I haven't really looked through them. Maybe I'll take the time to extract some of these internal structures and see if anyone can take a look...prefim wrote:Just updated to the latest Forza Studio. Some nice improvements! hats off to ya!

Re: Forza Motorsport Resource Extraction (.carbin)
I had a quick look inside a bix and there definitely seems to be some repeating patterns. i found e555 (text) cropped up a lot in the file I inspected. TBH i'm so out of my depth with this that I'm unlikely to be of any practical help decoding a file format!
From a morale point of view, i'm right here cheering you on though!
