Re: Final Fantasy 7 remake
Does anyone know how to get Noesis to export the Backcloth files? they display fine in Noesis, but when I export they are blank white files. Thanks!

Re: Final Fantasy 7 remake
Found a lot of great info in this thread and finally started to get Noesis to directly export the UASSET model files, but I still cannot get it to export or display animations (even after instructing it to use the right version of U4 and the 7R tool). Could anyone give me some tips about how to get ...

RDR2 Texture workflow
I've done mods with PBR textures from a few games, but I am a bit baffled by the RDR2 ones I've seen. For example, I'm not sure how to apply the _Ma or _Mb textures (in my experience those sorts of textures need to be decomposed into their constituent shaders like metalness and roughness, but I'm no...

mysterious texture maps in FFXV
A lot of the FFXV texture map formats have been documented by modders, but a number of maps (particularly ones with the NPCs) have yet to be explained. I'm wondering if anyone here might know how some of these work. There are two types in particular that are baffling. 1. the "_mm" maps. ht...

Maya question--using alpha map to hide parts of a mesh
I'm working with a model that has more than one outfit mesh attached to it. I decided to use alpha maps to hide the parts of the mesh I didn't want to export. I have the alpha set to the transparency node in a Phong material. Things looked right in the viewport, but when I exported to FBX, it looked...

Re: FFXV Model Imports, Maya 2018 and vertex groups/weights
Thanks for the response! I managed to figure this one out by fiddling with the "Rigging" workspace in Maya. If you go to the paint weights tool panel, you can select vertices. I just selected vertices that seemed to be broken and removed the trans influence. The main issue is how different...

problem with Blender exported models in Maya
I started working on a model in Blender (I find it a lot easier to deal with vertex groups there) and exported it into an FBX file. When I re-imported that to Maya, though, the model was no longer smooth--essentially every part of the mesh was triangulated. I tried a lot of different things--just ab...

FFXV Model Imports, Maya 2018 and vertex groups/weights
I’ve been having a couple of strange issues with FFXV models imported to Maya 2018. Models exported from Noesis have to be scaled up by a factor 100. I managed to solve that problem while preserving the armature. However, when I loaded one of the Maya edited models into the game, the model’s midsect...

Re: Noesis not detecting bones from a specific model in FFXV
In the meantime, is it possible for there to be a boneless Ignis and yet he is animated because the programming calls for a skeleton from a different model? It might be using a shared (common) skeleton, or like I said the skeleton of the standard Ignis. I don't think it will be a shared skeleton, b...

Re: Noesis not detecting bones from a specific model in FFXV
When I have extracted FFXV files (.earcs) I haven't seen that file popup. It should get extracted for the models that have skeleton. For example this is for Noctis. https://i.imgur.com/9yrAr44.png gfxbin is inside the "model_010" folder, and amdl is in the upper directory as you can see. ...

Re: Noesis not detecting bones from a specific model in FFXV
The skeleton is read from the .amdl file. Make sure you have that. Thanks for the quick reply! I'm pretty new to modding, where can I find that file? When I have extracted FFXV files (.earcs) I haven't seen that file popup. Edit: Had a look at the model's hex and I did not see a call for the .amdl ...

Noesis not detecting bones from a specific model in FFXV
I've run into a strange problem while extracting models from FFXV. Typically, when I extract a model from FFXV (using FFXVScout tool) Noesis displays it correctly with its entire skeleton. There is one model, however, that Noesis indicates as having *no* skeleton (specifically the model for Ignis us...
