its a big deal to rearrange 20k vertices and since the *.rip files are written in binary format.. its hard to interpret and finally it means the same as making your own model. It happens to me too everytime with Settlers 7. you have to use the import plugin to displace the meshes around your X and Y coords. I have tried to open those *.rip files on NoeSis, but it looks the same as in 3DSMax, i think the problem is not on import process, that is on ripping process (?) or ...
