YES!!

It's used by an earlier game called EPIC.
Anybody from this thread (and can remember events from 10 years ago) still around? :)

Re: Any idea what this format is?

Thanks hcs,
I suspect you're right. I'll put off digging into the binaries for a while, in the hope that someone here will recognise this. :)

Re: Any idea what this format is?

I tried a different line of research, and found out that the composer (or one of them) for TFX was one Barry Leitch who has a website: www.barryleitch.com From his Resume, he says this about his days at Ocean Software (who published TFX): 1992 - 1993 Ocean Software Ltd. Manchester, UK Senior Compose...

Re: Any idea what this format is?

Thanks. Here's a couple of files.
I'm assuming they are audio since they have identifiable ascii, like 'lead guitar'...

Re: Any idea what this format is?

Thanks. Looking further into the data archive, and while I don't have the actual filename, the file extension is likely to be one of the following: .par .dir .dat .way .cfg .sam .000 .cmb .col .bin .plt .com .hdd .txt .hud .opt .asc .le2 .lev .sta .mis .def .hlp .ody .spr .pos .tmt .dav .bbm .ssd .l...

Any idea what this format is?

Hello all,

I was going through the data files of the PC game TFX from 1993 and came across some audio files which start off looking like this:

Any idea what format this is? and if so, what can I play it with?.....

Re: Modding Results

In response to the email I received recently, I'd like to again thank 'john_doe' for working out the 'RA' compression scheme used in 'F22 Total Air War', one of the great flight sims released in 1998. The details are in this thread: http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1418&st=0&...

Unfortunately, I need to resurrect this thread..... First the good stuff. Using Multiex and John Doe's excellent decompressor we can now extract and decompress the 'did.dat' file for the following related games: F22 Total Air War (1998) F22 Air Dominance Fighter (1997) Super EF2000 (1997) A big 'Tha...

Xela,

'arrow.sh' seems only to be used in the 2D AWACS view. This can be readily seen by changing:
dopoint 401,0,0,6

to dopoint 401,0,0,20

.....or similar.

The 3D triangle with tail must be created in some other way.

Latest TAW news...... Well, the question above can be ignored since it seems the filenames are created 'on the fly' from various sources. Interestingly, the area of DID.dat containing the strings for the file structure and extensions (from offset 3cc22ae) is not identified as part of a file by Multi...
